Yahoo Search will be Default Search Engine in Ubuntu Firefox Browser
Canonical a major Ubuntu Linux Distributor has signed a search deal with Yahoo. As per this deal, Yahoo Search will be set as Default Search Engine in Firefox Browser within Ubuntu.
Canonical will gain a share of revenue, generated from Yahoo Search located in Firefox Search Toolbar as well as in the homepage.
Until now Google was set as a Default Search in Ubuntu and Canonical was gaining a portion of revenue from Google. But, Ubuntu Team has decided to switch from Google Search to Yahoo in future versions. But, users are free to change Default search to search engine of their choice.
The revenue sharing agreement with Yahoo will provide resources for development of Ubuntu Platform. The latest changes in search settings will be applied to next Ubuntu Version 10.04.

If Yahoo’s revenue is higher than Google’s for Canonical’s profits, go ahead because Ubuntu needs lots more financially.
Users, though, will switch it back to Google anyways..
